Introduction
The first national conference dedicated to lipedema arose from a simple observation:
despite a growing number of patients and a rapidly expanding clinical practice, the scientific understanding of this condition remains fragmented.
Through its daily commitment to the treatment of lipedema,
Dr. Nicolas Zwillinger is faced with:
- the complexity of the disease
- the diversity of its clinical manifestations
- and the current limits of our knowledge
The large number of patients followed, the wealth of clinical observations, and the many unanswered questions naturally led to a desire to go further:
to organize, understand, and advance research.
The conference
This conference is part of this initiative.
Led by the France Lipœdème association, the initiative aims to bring together experts from complementary fields:
- surgery
- endocrinology
- lymphology
- vascular medicine
- nutrition
- basic research
The goal: to exchange perspectives, compare experiences, and generate new ideas.
Objectives
More than just a scientific event, this conference aims to:
- develop a multidisciplinary framework for analysis
- promote collaboration between clinicians and researchers
- make use of data from clinical practice
- encourage the development of dedicated research
- help raise awareness of lipedema as a public health issue
